Description
19th century two door Biedermeier cabinet with hidden compartment. Scalloped pediment concealing a hidden drawer, stepped molded cornice above a triangular pediment, ebonized rounded banding, ebonized inlay throughout. Locking doors with four panes open to reveal three shelves. Large semicircular base drawer. Pine veneer covered case. 84.5 x 44.5 x 17.5 inches. Provenance: Collection of ceramicist Edward S. Eberle (American, 1944-2023). Previously in the collection of operatic bass-baritone Richard Cowan (American, 1957-2015).
Condition
Veneer cracked, lifting, chipped, with some pieces missing particularly at front above the drawer. Escutcheon is broken out of place. The top surface of the uppermost pediment is cracked, however it is not readily visible. Merchandise will be packed and transported by the purchaser at their own risk and expense.
