Description
Shepard, E. H. (Ernest Howard), They Rode Together, mid 1930s, ink and white gouache on paper, signed lower right and titled in lower margin, 8.25 x 8.25 inches, matted and framed 16.5 x 14 inches. This is an original ink drawing by Shepard made for Laurence Housman's play The Bed-Chamber Plot, from his collection of 19 short plays titled The Golden Sovereign which was published in 1937. Shepard is best known for his drawings of the children book classics Winnie the Pooh and Wind in the Willows. Provenance: not marked as such, but likely from the private collection of Vincent Price.
Condition
