An unusual South Staffordshire enamel patch box, early 19th century
Painted with two ships, one engulfed in flames, the legend 'Britons rule' inscribed above, on a pale blue ground, the lid's interior painted with a ship and the title 'Hope' and in front, reverse-painted on the glass, the figure of Hope leaning on an anchor, her robes gilt, 4.3cm wide
