Description
A Patinated Metal Napoleonic Sculptural Lamp, after Salesio
Lugli Salesio (Italian 1869-1936), a Napoleonic table lamp, the sculpture emblematic of Napoleon's exile on the island of Elba, dreaming of a past military battle. Bonaparte, wearing his traditional bicorn hat, his hand tucked into a long coat, while seated and leaning on the back of a chaise longue, gazing downwards and dreaming of past military glories as a large flag billows above his Imperial Guard soldiers racing from clouds spilling out of broken iron bars. Signed on the side "Salesio," verso circular mark, Fabrication Francaise/Paris/Made in France, approximate dimensions - Height: 15 1/2" Width: 20" Depth: 12"
