Description
Traditional American lidded sweetgrass basket. A dying art form from the lowcountry of South Carolina are hand woven baskets by the Gullah. Woven by Elizabeth German (American, 1925-2009) the basket showcases her weaving talents. The curved handle with latched and hinged lid is an intricate form of basket making. Varying colors of sweetgrass, pine needles and bullrush have been used to lend interest to basket. Large in size makes it an excellent accessory for carriage or display. The coil basket is tagged with German's business card.
Dimensions: 13.5 X 12 X 8 in.
Condition: Good overall condition having normal surface wear. Estate fresh to the market.
