A vintage Bausch and Lomb HA type compound microscope. Mixed metals, with cast iron, steel, and brass. Parts finished with alcohol and reagent-proof black and chromium. V shaped base and C shaped arm. Body equipped with a fixed vertical monocular tube and triple revolving nosepiece. Course focusing by rack and pinion. Fine focus by B&L patented lever mechanism. Built-on square, mechanical stage. The sub-stage assembly includes a condenser with an iris diaphragm, a filter holder, and a plug-in mirror, all moved on frame by rack and pinion. Accompanied by vintage wood hinged and lidded standing case with racks for storing lenses. Hand written label to top with notation MEDICAL SCHOOL UNIVERSITY. Carrying case measures approximately 10" x 15" x 7.75". Provenance; a private collection.
