A Egyptian Revival enamel souvenir spoon, marked 800 silver, clasped sarcophagus containing removable enameled gold plated mummy. Featuring iconography of the pyramids and of the great sphinx Giza and representing the latter part of the Egyptian revival period of the art deco 1920's. In 1922, Howard Carter’s discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb and the extensive artifacts uncovered with it sparked renewed enthusiasm for all things Egyptian. Ancient Egypt influenced everything from commercial buildings, movie theaters, and films, to clothing, mass-produced items, and advertisements.
