His name is painted into the lower portion of the work, with a later added gilt 727 number plaque from the Neues castle in Germany, where it once resided. At the lower left. Provenance: Retains an old auction label with "HOUSE CHAMBER INVENTORY page number 1715,", followed by a distinguished auction event hosted by Sotheby's in October 1995, designated as LOT 2860 at the Neues Schloss (New Castle), Baden-Baden, Germany. It was a part of the royal collection belonging to Margrave Max von Baden (1933-2022), a prominent figure in European aristocracy and the first cousin of Prince Charles III.
