Extremely rare, believed to have been made as a test bait for the outdoor writer Sheridan Jones in 1918. Uncataloged (made with only one line tie), 3 1/4" wood body, factory unrigged, unfished Ex-, with yellowing from an old thin over-varnish. Coming in its original 2pc box, with the top label intentionally left off to allow for handwritten notes about the lure for Jones: "Jamison's Weedless Mascot Wobbler Diver Swimmer Floater Surface or Underwater Price 75B". Other than factory written notes in place of the label the box grades Ex-, and includes the Sheridan R. Jones collection stamp on the interior of the lid. This exact combination is pictured in "The Life and Legend of Sheridan R. Jones" on page 63. For the serious Jamison collection Sheridan Jones (1881-1958) was certainly one of the most respected and prolific angling writers of his era. Many of the lures offered in this auction where noted were personally owned by Jones. Several were given to the esteemed author and outdoor writer for his professional opinion others as gifts by lure makers vying for his favor. Stated best by author Joseph Hilko in his 2010 book The Life and Legend of Sheridan R. Jones: "Jones' legacy as an educator, naturalist, professional writer and world-class angler is worthy of remembrance today"."
