Measuring 4 7/8" by 1 3/4" this very rare black picture box features a crisp illustration of the bait as well as the "Pat applied for" marking. With all printing legible and the box bottom factory printed to use for shipping, the condition is at least VG+/Ex- due only to light wear, thin lines of glue residue on the corners and very minor paper loss to the edges - one of the best condition surviving examples. This important combination includes the correct early Sure Lure bait, silver with gold spots, front prop marked "Pat. Appl'd For", the rubber body now rigid with glue residue from repair/replacing several sections, one small chip and light wear. Other than the musky box, this is the rarest of all the Shakespeare black intro boxes with only a handful known.
