Deco themed from 1970’s and slightly after. Exact year unknown. It is signed AN (Ari D. Norman, a British jewelry maker/designer) with a walking lion, facing left, and othermarks indicating sterling silver (British hallmarks). It tests as sterling for the chain and pendant with a weight of appx. 33.88 gr. This is a magnifying glass passing as a necklace and great to wear on shopping trips or when you be expected to read some fine print when you are out and about. This is sterling silver Art Deco themed jewelry design of great quality and a style worn by royalty in the earlier 1900’s. This has a 1.5” magnifying glass that is domed and has three accents which contain marcasites and well as marcasites also being in the panther as well. The eyes of the panther are emeralds that are appx .08 to 1mm. The pendant is appx. 2” tall and wide. Magnification is (from researching this piece) 7.5 power. The chain is appx. 2.5mm wide with a spring clasp. Both pieces were tested and both pieces do test as sterling. This is a great piece that can be handed down to generations. Panthers have a meaning in jewelry of leaders that crosses many cultures – it can signify virility too as well as other means of strength and power. Amazing quality and quite the collector’s piece.
