This vintage 19th century Chinoiserie inkwell is uniquely decorative. A mounted Famille Verte porcelain inkwell with its original clear glass insert is accented with a fancy bronze hinged lid cover. The porcelain features hand painted pheasants positioned in a garden setting. This wonderful inkwell is mounted upon an elaborately painted wooden platform with mounted bronze pen rests. The painted platform scene depicts beautifully costumed Chinese women bartering the price of colorful caged birds. All the characters animals & botanicals are painted against a serene sage green background. The painted platform showcases a sculpted border frame complimenting the ensemble perfectly.4 3/8" tall X 9 5/8" wide X 6 3/8" deep
