A rare black rubber and stainless steel cube GOM ashtray by Japanese architect and designer Masayuki Kurokawa from 1973. Throughout his career, Masayuki Kurokawa has worked on both large-scale architectural projects as well as product design. His designs, often composed of pared-down geometric forms, have received numerous awards, including numerous iF Design Awards, the Good Design Award, and the Mainichi Design Prize, Japan's most prestigious design award. His work is found in the permanent design collections of the MoMA NY, Cooper Hewitt, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
For non-smokers, this piece is perfect for keys, small office supplies, or as a catch-all. In very good unused condition. Made in Japan and marked on underside.
