Description
British Mochaware Jug, Circa 1830. Of Empire bulbous form, decorated with a three-chambered slip cup holding blue, white and pumpkin slips in an unusual "Q-tip" design, the neck surrounded by a band of ovals, all on a pale blue slip field within dark brown bands, extruded loop handle. H: 8 in., W: 6.75 in., D: 10.375 in. Literature: A jug slip decorated in a similar pattern is illustrated in Jonathan Rickard, "Mocha and Related Dipped Wares, 1770-1939, p. 113, fig. 161.
