Description
Five Sailor's Scrimshaw Walking Sticks, Mid-Nineteenth Century. The first with pistol handle, carved in relief with a bridled horse's head and leaf; the second with knobby wood shaft affixed with a stylized foliate handle; the third with curved grip and two baleen bands; the fourth wood stick affixed with a diminutive whale's head; the fifth shaft of twisted baleen mounted with a rectangular grip. First: L: 35 in., W: 2.5 in. Provenance: The Dingman Collection, Hampton, New Hampshire.
