Description
Rare Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. Pressed Medium Blue 'Lafayet' (BT5) Steamboat Salt Dish, 1830-45. Molded "LAFAYET" above a star on each paddlewheel, "SANDWICH" on the interior base, "B. & S. GLASS CO" on the stern, and "SANDWICH" within curled tendrils underneath. Together with a Midwest colorless glass cup plate, probably Pittsburgh, 1845-55, pressed "E. A. & S. R. FILLEY, SAINT. LOUIS, IMPORTERS OF CHINA GLASS & QUEENS WARE." (2) Salt dish: H: 1.75 in., W: 3.5 in., D: 2 in. Cup plate: Diam: 3.375 in. Literature: The salt dish, L.W. and D.B.
