Pair of 19th C. Folk Painted Wooden Chairs, Windsor & Artist Stool. This lot is for two mismatched spindle back chairs, one which swivels as an artist's studio stool and a taller stationary one, both of with have a number painted on the back rest as a theater or station seat. One chair is hand painted underneath with "S. B. Chittenden Guilford CT" which possibly refers to New York representative Simeon Baldwin Chittenden (1814-1889) who was born in Guilford, CT.

Dimensions are 31.5-38 in h x 16.5 in w x 17.25 in d. Seat heights are about 18 in h and 25 in h. Condition is fair with heavy paint crazing and surface wear throughout, fading and discoloration. Spinning chair swivels well. Legs and spindles appear sturdy. Please call or email or a detailed condition report.
