A Russian Soviet Fedoskino lidded black lacquered wooden box. The hinged lid is adorned with a hand painted scene from a Russian Fairy Tale, The Tale of Tsar Saltan, which Alexander Pushkin wrote in 1831. It depicts a famous scene from the fairy tale with Tsar Saltan and a squirrel gnawing golden nuts. Inscribed by the artist and dated 1979 on the side. Marked Fedoskino 1979. The box was created for the 1980 Moscow Olympics. A red interior.
