Description
Miao Silver Bridal Crown (S.E. Asia) - Featuring a central medallion of a five-layer peony, the crown is elaborately decorated with over 60 lilies. They symbolize marital bliss. Other important motifs are phoenixes, horses, and angels which are supposed to bring honor, success, good fortune and children. The dangling bells are a festive touch when the bride walks and dances as they make pleasant sounds with movement. Following the tradition of modesty, they also help to shield the bride's face. The Miao are a group of linguistically-related peoples living in Southern China and Southeast Asia. Measures 24”h x 12”w. Item comes from the collection of Timothy Koock. Ships from Austin, Tx.
