The canvas has been relined and there is a large patch on the reverse, upper right when looking at the back. In raking light it is possible to see a horizontal T-shaped repair to the shoulder of the servant woman upper left, which corresponds to the patch on the reverse. It is also possible to see a horizontal canvas join in the lower section of the composition. The paint surface is relatively clean with a little abrasion around the edge where the frame has rubbed. In strong light it is just possible to see some infilling to the red drapery lower left, to the putto's hair, left and to the lower right corner. There are tiny scattered retouchings throughout the background.
Inspection under UV light is hindered by uneven varnish but it just possible to see: scattered infillings and small restorations to the background; the aforementioned repair, upper left and a few scattered infillings to the flesh tones.
Further restoration cannot be excluded.
