TEXAS LYNX; NINE-BANDED ARMADILLO
Two hand-colored lithographs by J. T. Bowen, 1846 and 1848, respectively, on wove paper, plates XCII and CXLVI from The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America, the second laid on card, framed.
Sheet (first) 21 1/2 x 27 1/16 inches; 546 x 687 mm.
Sheet (second) 21 3/8 x 27 1/2 inches; 543 x 699 mm.
Frame (first) 22 3/4 x 28 1/4 inches; 578 x 718 mm.
Frame (second) 22 7/8 x 28 5/8 inches; 581 x 727 mm.



TEXAS LYNX: Lightstain and matstain, foxing and other discoloration, some staining at right sheet edge, some creasing and rippling, a few pinholes and tears at sheet edges (longest tear 1/2-inch), with old tape applied verso, 3/16-inch abrasion in the image at bottom.

NINE-BANDED ARMADILLO: Lightstain and some dark staining at left and right sheet edges, laid on card, some foxing and other discoloration, a 10 1/4-inch tear at right sheet edge extending into the image (with some added color), some creasing and a few unobstrusive short tears and nicks at sheet edges, a small loss at each bottom sheet corner.
