Description
Goblet with saying Franconia or Thuringia, ca. 1720 Colourless glass with tear. Disc base with downward folded rim and olive grind rim. Faceted baluster shaft with pierced air bubble. Faceted nodus. Base of the conically widened cuppa with pointed arch ornamentation. Frontal woman in architectural decoration flanked by tendrils and stylized flowers, pointing to a 10 x combination. Inscription on the reverse: ''Haemper was an argehuer the ten makes ten makes a hundred years''. Frosted lip edge. H. 21 cm Hemper is said to be a monster that wanders between the worlds - half man, half animal, half spirit. So the Hemper remains in the stories and songs, in the shadows of the forests and the dreams of the people. A behemoth that reminds us that the world is bigger than we can imagine, and that there are still secrets waiting to be discovered, probably another hundred years?!
