Robert Pummill grew up in the Texas Hill Country and was inspired by the work of Frederic Remington to paint scenes of the Old West. The landscapes of his imagination surrounded him when he was stationed in Montana. After completing his military service, he moved to Los Angeles and attended night school at the Art Center School of Design while working as a commercial artist by day. In 1968, he moved to Texas, and in 1977, he became a full-time artist at age forty one. His prints were published by Texas Art Press, and for many years the Texas Art Gallery conducted an annual one-artist show. He is a member of the Cowboy Artists of America.
