Provenance: Property from a large home in the Terrell Hills neighborhood of San Antonio, Texas
A longtime Texas painter, Ivan McDougal was born in Lometa, Texas, and studied at the Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, at Trinity University, and in Chicago at the Academy of Art. He taught many workshops and a painting class at the Jewish Community Center in San Antonio. He was a founding member of the San Antonio 'Watercolor Gang' whose world-wide painting excursions produced ātravelogue exhibitsā of France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Alaska, and many locations in the U.S. He has been a member of the San Antonio Art League of which in 1978, he was voted Artist of the Year, and his work is in the permanent collection of the McNay Art Museum.
