Third Intermediate Period, Ca. 712 - 664 BC.
An Egyptian green stone amulet depicting a finely-detailed ram’s head with horns curved around the ears and towards the mouth. This is characteristic of the god Amon (also Amun, Amen, Ammon). The nicely-proportioned ram head exhibits tab-shaped ears protruding behind its eyes. The tapered snout has slit-form nostrils, and is atop the head of the uraeus. Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014, acquired in 2003 from a UK private collection formed in the 1970s to 1990s.
