Fishermen 1950, oil on board, 24 x 30, signed lower right: Ramon Froman '50, Froman is primarily known for his picturesque landscapes and portraiture, and enjoyed a highly successful art career throughout the twentieth century. He studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and under the private instruction of Emden F. Van Amburgh. Froman was an influential member of numerous art societies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He earned the coveted position as a permanent exhibiting member of Grand Central Art Galleries in New York City, Taos Art Gallery in Taos, New Mexico, and Fort Worth’s Reminisce Gallery. His celebrated portraits are included in the permanent collections of Southern Methodist University in Dallas and the University of Texas at Austin. Perhaps his founding and directing of the Ramon Froman School of Art in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, left the most indelible footprint of his career.
