The fine California Indian child carrier is constructed with vertical rods twined together by Devil's Claw in geometric patterns, the front being laced in green ribbon and jute. An infant would be bound to this board with blankets for warmth and comfort. While on the board, a wicker sun shade and a scrap of machine-made upholstery cloth circa 1920 shield the child's head from the sun.
