A pair of rare Western railroad ephemera from the 1880s. Includes: 9" x 5.5" letterhead from The Coeur d' Alene Railway and Navigation Co., c1887, with letter signed by John McCormick; and a check drawn on an account for B.F. White, Forwarding and Commission Merchant, Terminus U. & N. R. (Utah Northern Railroad), Wyoming, Montana, to S.R. Buford & Co., Virginia City, Montana, with vignette of a steam engine, c1880, 7.5" x 3.75". Simeon R. Buford opened the region[x=#8217/]s largest grocery store in 1878. Buford[x=#8217/]s was the supply point for most of southwestern Montana, including the infant [x=#8220/]Butte City.[x=#8221/]Utah Northern Railroad existed from 1871 to 1878.
