Description
German World War II Luftwaffe uniform grouping. Lot contains an unusual Heer tropical tunic marked with a RBNr, an unusual machine-sewn tropical Luftwaffe eagle on the right breast, and EKII ribbon hand-sewn, and golden-yellow piped Hauptmann shoulder boards. Tunic has light wear throughout with moderate wear to the collar. Heer tropical HBT trousers, both size and RBNr marked, with heavy fading. Lot includes an unissued tropical web belt with an unissued Luftwaffe blue-gray steel buckle, which has a leather tab dated "1942" and make by "H. Aurich, Dresden. Lot also includes what is known as an Italian-made Luftwaffe officer's tropical cap. While the cap has textbook features such as the machine sewn tropical cockade, 4 brass vents, the correct officer bullion and the correct tropical eagle being machine sewn. The unusual feature of the eagle's application is that it is sewn as a trapezoid, a feature not encountered before by several well-known collectors. The sweatband is no longer present and there are no markings. CONDITION: Overall very good.
