Description
Pre-Imperial German Prussian 1870 Iron Cross 2nd class, awarded for valor during the 1870/1871 Franco-Prussian War. Cross appears to an "early award Type A" with a blackened iron core made by Wagner. Original stained ribbon with heavy freckling to the iron core and very dark patina on the silver frame. Core reverse has been repainted in gloss black. The vitrine has a wood base with remnants of a German manufacturer paper label, off-white velour front, light blue rayon backing is torn on both sides, and with a small unmarked plate on the front. Glass dome has very light bubbling throughout CONDITION: Overall fair to good. WEZ
