Description
A very nice group from Turkey, the Ottoman Empire, and the Order of Medjidie x 3, with a grand cross, sash, and neck award. The Order was issued by Sultan Abdülmecid as a reward for distinguished service to members of the British Army and the Royal Navy, as well as the French Army who came to the aid of the Ottoman Empire during the Crimean War against Russia and to British recipients for later service in Egypt and/or the Sudan. These Orders were displayed in a riker mount with an old plaque adressed to Prince Aymon de Faucigny, along with a document fragment bearing his partial name. Each order is silvered with gold plated center ring that surrounds a red enamel field that contains the Sultan's cypher. Reverse of grand cross is mint and silver marked. All awards exhibit pleasing patina throughout with intact enamel. Gold ring exhibits light tarnishing in areas. CONDITION: Good.
