Barrel signed "John Rigby and Co. 13 - 19 Pensbury Place, London, SW8" with appropriate British nitro proofing on right side of shank, and sling swivel on sleeved-on base. Engraved reinforcement bolt with acanthus on a stippled ground. Double square bridge action set up for swing-off scope mounts, currently mounted with a Swarovski Z8i 1.7-13.3x42mm scope with illuminated duplex reticle that has center dot and an illuminated circle. 3 position flag safety. Bottom of action with well executed floral scrollwork on a stippled ground, with a negative space Rigby logo in the center, ".416 RIGBY" in a ribbon at bottom, and extending onto trigger guard, which has serial number inlaid in gold. Pistol grip cap engraved en suite, with trap and Rigby logo gold inlaid, sling swivel along toe line. Nicely figured and densely fiddlebacked Turkish walnut stock, ending in a black line spacer with orange recoil pad. In Rigby branded factory hard case with a Rigby sling and appropriate paperwork, including manual and test target showing 65 yard iron sights for 400 grain Hornady. CONDITION: Excellent, NOS or equivalent, showing just a couple minor marks from handling and operation, mostly from shop wear. Checkering is sharp. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent with crisp rifling. Bolt face is excellent; it is distinctly possible that this rifle is test fired only. Glass is clear and throws smoothly. Replacement value on a rifle of this quality from Rigby today would be in the $15,000 range, before counting glass.
