Description
Manufactured circa 1874 in standard configuration throughout. Desirable "A" O.W. Ainsworth inspector marks observed on trigger guard, top of backstrap near hammer, and left butt of grip. Left grip panel has a faint illegible cartouche. Bottom of backstrap is aftermarket marked "HDN". Features include script barrel address, 2 line patent date on frame next to "U.S." marking, early ejector rod housing with reinforcement stud, barrel has reinforcement stud relief cut, and early style donut ejector rod head. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, and butt. CONDITION: Good, with virtually all of the original finish cleaned to a freckled gray-brown patina throughout. Barrel shows some heavy handling marks forward of ejector rod housing. Grips are well-worn. Mechanically fine. Bore is lightly frosted with well-defined rifling.
