This is an instance where the reissue poster is more desirable than the original release one sheet. This campaign, released just three years after its initial release, makes one wonder whether the producers realized they missed the boat initially by not depicting the film as a drama involving the sport of pool.

Besides some minor wear from handling, this poster is in near-mint condition.

Paul Newman's portrayal of pool hustler "Fast Eddie" Felson in the film became one of his most beloved roles. The film also sparked a renewed global interest in the sport of pool. A sequel, The Color of Money, was released 25 years later, directed by Martin Scorsese.
