The Locusts View up the Hudson From the Landing - Locust Grove

Rare. Locust Grove is a 200-acre estate located in Poughkeepsie, New York. It was built in 1851 by Samuel Morse, a businessman and inventor who is best known for inventing the Morse code. The estate includes a beautiful Italianate villa, formal gardens, greenhouses, carriage roads, and natural forest.

After Samuel Morse's death in 1872, the estate was bought by the Young family, who expanded the property by adding a dairy barn, horse stables, a garage, and other outbuildings. The estate changed hands several times in the 20th century, and was eventually acquired by the non-profit organization called "The Friends of Locust Grove" in 1975.
