Richard Burton's "The Robe" Smock and Tunic W/Western Costume Label - This custom made smock and shirt were worn by Richard Burton during the filming of the 1953 American Biblical epic film, The Robe. Richard Burton was a stand out actor in the film, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance of the role. The film was also nominated and won the awards for Best Set Direction and Best Costume Design, and also won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture-Drama. The lot includes a leather and canvas smock with metal decorations, and a heavy cotton tunic which has an interior Western Costume Co. label stamped with "R. Burton", "Ch. 7" and "25-2213-2".
