CROMWELL (Richard, Lord Protector) Document signed to Erasmus Earle (1590-1667), of Heydon, Norfolk, to exercise the office of Serjeant-at-law. Richard Cromwell was Lord Protector from September 1658 to May 1659. Earle had served in the same office for Oliver Cromwell, Richard's father, and had been MP for Norwich in 1640.
