He joined the army in 1920, serving with the New York Coast Artillery Corps until 1923, when he resigned with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Through the 1920s he continued studies at the Art Students League. Early in his career he did many illustrations for books and magazines but later focused on window displays and advertising. He was a member of the San Francisco Art Association*, Art Students League, and the Society of American Fakirs (a satirical art club). He exhibited at the Art Students League and won numerous prizes. He died in 1978 at the age of 95 in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
