Artist Bio: Born November 16, 1847 at Whitstable, Kent, England, he came to the US about 1878. A landscape painter, he lived in California, Seattle, Washington, and New York City.Harnett was British Vice-Consul in San Jose, Guatemala in 1894; an officer for Pacific Mail Steamship Company, and may have been a British Calvary officer stationed in Dublin at one time.One of his paintings, oil on canvas 22 3/16" x 36 3/16", view of Seattle (untitled Seattle and Mt. Rainier) painted in 1889, is owned by the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle, WA.Harnett died on January 29, 10914 at Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York.
