Honus Wagner Signed Check
Signed Check

Check signed by Honus Wagner, measuring 2.75" x 6.75", Carnegie, PA, dated January 14, 1919, cut on a Carnegie National Bank and made payable to the order of Frank Miller in the amount of $10.50, signed "JH Wagner" in bottom right corner. Slight perforation affecting the Wagner signature, but boldly signed and overall, very good condition. Endorsed on verso.
The check was once authenticated by PSA/DNA on behalf of Goldin. Unfortunately, the LOA has been lost, but a copy is included in the lot.

Honus Wagner, sometimes referred to as Hans Wagner, was an American baseball shortstop who played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1897 to 1917, almost entirely for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1936, the Baseball Hall of Fame inducted Wagner as one of the first five members. He received the second-highest vote total, behind Ty Cobb's 222, and tied with Babe Ruth at 215. Most baseball historians consider Wagner to be the greatest shortstop ever and one of the greatest players ever. Ty Cobb himself called Wagner "maybe the greatest star ever to take the diamond".

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
