Description
Several of lots 504 through 527 are part of a group of Russian items consigned by a prominent Cincinnati family. All may have been purchased from the Armand Hammer Sale of Imperial Russian items held at Marshall Field & Company in Chicago in July of 1933. Many have documentation from the Hammer Collection. Others do not but the all reportedly came from the Hammer Sale.
Ornate English Russian silver serving spoon with a Russian Imperial Exhibit tag stating “from the St. Petersburg Yousoupoff Palace, circa 1847”. The open work grape and vine handle is topped by a crown above a Shield of Arms and having a shell form bowl and brightly retaining a fine wash of gold. Length 9 1/8 inches. Russian hallmarks include 84, cross swords and cyrllic letters for DT in oval, Latin letters GA and a Delta symbol. English marks are of the Lion, Cougar, left facing Monarch and Old English date letter R. A Russian Imperial Exhibit certificate dated July 15, 1933 from the Hammer Collection at Marshall Field & Company accompanies. Choice example in excellent condition.
