Item Details
Description
Glazed Red Dragon Pattern Jade Pot Spring Bottle Size: H28.5cm D13cm The underglaze red dragon patterned jade teapot and spring vase, with the cloud dragon pattern dating back to the Tang, Song, and Five Dynasties periods. In the composition, dragon patterns are the main focus, supplemented by cloud patterns. Dragons usually move in a mist like manner or dance in the clouds. The dragon is the main pattern, and the cloud is the auxiliary pattern. The dragon either gallops through the clouds or dances among the clouds. It first appeared on Tang and Song porcelain, such as the cloud and dragon patterns on the secret colored porcelain vases of the Yue kiln in the late Tang and Five Dynasties, and the dragon patterns on the printed plates of the Ding kiln in the Song Dynasty, dancing in the midst of auspicious clouds. Cloud and dragon patterns are more common on Yuan, Ming, and Qing porcelain, and the jade pot spring vase, also known as the jade pot appreciation vase, is a typical shape of Chinese porcelain. Its design evolved from the water purification bottles in Tang Dynasty temples. The basic form is a curled mouth, thin neck, drooping abdomen, and circular feet. It is a type of bottle with a soft curve as the contour line. The unique feature of its design is that the neck is relatively thin, with a slight constriction in the center of the neck. The neck gradually widens downwards and transitions into an apricot shaped drooping abdomen, with a smooth and rounded curve; The circle is relatively large, either inward or outward. The shape of this bottle was established in the Song Dynasty, and has gone through the Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing, Republic of China, and modern times. View more exciting content.
