Description
Classic example of a San Francisco made gambler's or gentleman's compact vest dagger, circa 1870s. Dagger has a double-edged spear point blade, properly stamped on the ricasso "M.PRICE / SAN FRAN." Dagger has an incurved shank, with a nicely shaped ebony handle with riveted cap. Retains the original German silver sheath, with a friction fit molded shoulder rim. 4 - 3/4" overall with a 2 - 1/2" blade. For a similar example see Bernard Levine's "Knifemakers of Old San Francisco" (1977) pg. 120. CONDITION: Very good with typical cleaning scratches visible if held in the right light. Some light cleaned pitted areas near the ricasso, and tip is sharp. Rare in any condition. Blade Length: 2 - 1/2" Overall Length: 4 - 3/4"
