Difetti e tracce d’uso alla legatura, restauri al dorso, fogli di guardia rinnovati; angolo inferiore del titolo restaurato; antico restauro alle pagine 835-836, traccia di pieghe sulle due vedute ripiegate. Diffusa lieve brunitura e sporadicamente qualche macchia, pochissimi piccoli strappi sui margini, in generale buon esemplare. Rara e importante edizione in tedesco. Come l’edizione del 1588 le 26 carte generali sono state ridisegnate e nel testo sono state aggiunte circa 400 figure. In particolare, le mappe che mostrano il Nuovo Mondo sono state drasticamente riviste: la moderna mappa del mondo e la mappa delle Americhe danno un'idea molto più accurata delle Americhe rispetto alle mappe primitive utilizzate nelle edizioni 1544-1578. Il vastissimo apparato comprende una carta a tutta pagina dell’Europa con le insegne imperiali e due grandi vedute ripiegate di di Heidelberg e Vienna. Adorned woodcut initials and culs-de-lampe, printer’s device on colophon’s verso, on the last unnumbered leaf.Defects and traces of wear on binding, restoriations on back, new endpapers, internally some stains and slight brownings, very few little tears on margins. Restored corner of titlepage and p. 835-36, p. 835-36 trimmed and browning, two views slightly trimmed on margins, another trimmed on right margin, trace of folds on the two folded views.
Rare and important edition in German. Like the 1588 edition, the 26 general maps have been redesigned and about 400 illustrations have been added to the text. In particular, the maps showing the New World have been drastically revised: the modern world map and the map of the Americas give a much more accurate idea of the Americas than the primitive maps used in the 1544-1578 editions. The vast apparatus includes a full-page map of Europe with the imperial insignia and two large folded views of Heidelberg and Vienna.
