Johann Wild (Ferus), 1497-1554, è stato un commentatore e predicatore scritturale francescano tedesco. Entrato giovanissimo nell'Ordine francescano, studiò a Colonia e nel 1528, fu nominato professore di retorica e belle lettere, scrittore e predicatore. I suoi sermoni nelle chiese di Magonza guadagnarono presto un'alta reputazione di erudizione ed eloquenza. Fu molto attivo nella lotta contro la Riforma. 8vo; 150x95 mm; stiff vellum binding, handwritten title on spine, red edges. Pp. [16, including title page], 613, [11, Colophon at the end]. Collation: *⁸ A-2Q⁸. The last leaf is blank. Giunta’s device on titlepage, woodcut initials and ornaments, italic and roman type. On l. *8v a woodcut depicting crucifixion. Light diffused foxing.
First Italian edition, printed by Giunti, adorned with a beautiful full-page woodcut. Johann Wild (Ferus), 1497-1554, was a German Franciscan scriptural commentator and preacher. Having entered the Franciscan Order at a very young age, he studied in Cologne and in 1528, he was appointed professor of rhetoric and belles lettres, writer and preacher. His sermons in the churches of Mainz soon gained a high reputation for erudition and eloquence. He was very active in the fight against the Reformation.
