Description
Paul Troger worked in Venice, where he was in contact with painters such as Piazzetta and Federico Bencovich, and in Rome, where he was employed by Giuseppe Maria Crespi. Later, still in Italy, he studied with Sebastiano Ricci in Venice and with Francesco Solimena in Naples, who influenced his chromatic rendering. He returned to his homeland and created cycles of frescoes for some monasteries in Lower Austria. From 1754 to 1757 Troger was rector of the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna. His art is characterized by the essential component of light and color, which act as compositional elements.Oil on canvas 94 x 74 cm
