This is a French pair of oil on canvas paintings of Deauville casino done by world famous casino painter W.Siss. These paintings have a wonderful conversation subject. All the people in both paintings are real famous well known people such as Prime minister Indira Gandhi Madamme Coco Chanel Yul Briner etc. The first painting shows people leaving a race track while they have lost their money and look sad. This painting was painted in Deauville in 1936 and is signed and dated on the lower right. The other painting shows the people arriving to the casino's roulette salon all happy expecting to win. The first painting "At the roulette salon" was painted in 1959 in Deauville and is signed on the top right corner by the artist. Each painting comes with its original hand made frame and measures 44.5" by 34" framed and 36" by 25" unframed. Both pieces are in mint condition for their age. These paintings were commissioned directly to the artist in Paris to be painted with a list of well known people in the painting. Both paintings used to belong to a well known millionaire gambler who owned the most beautiful collection of gambling pieces such as paintings poker chips boxes backgammon chest sets etc.
