1 Large 19th century master signed metal works pictorial button.
From the collection of the late Shirley Case of Missouri. This button is an extremely fine and desirable example of Japanese Shakudo work. The sea dragon in solid gold is finely detailed and inlaid into a solid thick bronze base with a lower relief of the sea water and waves and birds in gold flying over the top. This incredible example is signed on the reverse in a full large master craftsman signature. The size, the thickness, the fineness and the signature all contribute to the rarity of this great button.
Issued: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918
Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4". Large=1 1/4" and above, extra large=1 3/4" and above
