Cum commentariis aut notis God. Stewechii & Fr. Modii.". Quarto: [8]-102-[9-1 bl.]-123-[1 bl.]-208-[12]-347-[1 bl.]-24-[31] pages (typical toning and spotting). - This new expanded edition by P. Scriverius (1576-1660) builds upon the significant annotated edition by the Dutch humanist Stewechius (1557-1588), which compiles major classical sources on the Roman Army. It also incorporates notes by the Bruges humanist Fr. Modius (1566-1597). The volume features 47 large woodcuts depicting Roman machinery and tactics, as well as numerous woodcut coin illustrations, diagrams, and smaller illustrations. The title page bears a woodcut mark, as does the part title.

Condition

Contemporary limp vellum binding with a flat spine titled in ink. In good condition.
