Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Alum Red Blue and White Porcelain Celestial Ball Vase On Carved Hardwood Stand. Potted in celestial shape vase, thick and tall, globular lower body, cylindrical neck, close mouth rim, raised on a short small round foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against red and blue color depicted of flying qilin through cumulus clouds. Qilin are extraordinarily beautiful creatures, sparkling like gems and adorned in flames. With their scaly bodies and horned heads, they resemble Chinese dragons. Qilin are symbol of luck, good omens, protection, prosperity, success, and longevity by the Chinese. Whatever their special attraction, they always move gracefully and dazzle the mortals who see them.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a four under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
